Is Teacher-Student Sex OK if the Student is 18? I'm sure a lot of you are shaking your heads right now at this question, however some do say that it is o.k. Technically these teenagers are of age, and in the eyes of the law, adults. This article talks about a 25 year old women teacher named Amy McElhenney who was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her male students. Some people are saying that this should not be a felony charge due to the fact that he was 18. However, how could it not. There should not have to be a rule saying that teachers should not have sex with their students. Anyone who thinks that this is o.k is in the wrong field, and should be no where near a career in education.

I am getting so mad at all the reports in the news about teacher-student relationships. No matter how old the student is, the teacher should know better. Teachers are adults who are in a school to teach students, not have a relationship with them. I disagree with these relationships 100% no matter the age of the student.

I agree with both of you. There is no question how disgusting these so-called relationships are. What could a 25 y/o have in common with an 18 y/o anyway? It actually makes me sick to my stomach to hear about these stories. Even if we're talking college level, at least wait till the end of the term. I know that one of my teachers from highschool got married with one of his former students. That's Gross!

Teachers should not have relatinships with their students no matter what the circumstances. That is the most degrading thing that someone could partake in. I do not understand what these teachers see in their students. No teacher should ever cross that student - teacher line of trust.

Hmmmm, I guess that all has to do with the age. If an adult returns to collge and AFTER completion of the course decided to go out with the teacher, would that be okay?

Age definitely plays a part in this. Especially in the younger grades, however, college may be a different story. I still think that it is wrong for any teacher to date or do anything else with their students at any age. Even if the teacher and the student are the same age. I just think that you should leave those relationships the way they are, teacher-student. Don't cross the line.
