This article discusses how a large family gave up their stomach's to prevent stomach cancer. These were all grandchildren who watched many family members die of this rare disease at early ages. The loss was too much for them and they all decided to remove their stomachs so they could steer clear of this rare and deadly disease. This is great that technology today can do this sort of thing. Now all of these people can sleep better knowing that this will not affect their lives any longer. Although it has affected their diets, they are all pleased with their decisions. I am not sure what I would do in this situation. Is this type of surgery really worth it?

After reading this article,I wondered if I could give up my stomach. The people in the article that gave up their stomachs showed courage and strength. This is a great technology because it saved lives, but i also wonder if these surgery is worth it. Only time and a few more patients can tell.

I really don't know what I do if I was in a situation like this. However, if it did mean that it could save my life in the future from a deadly disease I would consider it greatly. I would also look deeply into what effects of the surgery maybe and if it is worth it. I would be a very hard decision though!
