Ever think about taking your pet with you to work? Well I certainly haven't, however many have and do! In this article it states that one in five U.S. companies allow employees to bring their pets to work. They say that it discourages people from being absent from work and encourages co-workers to get along. I really am shocked after reading this. How does this not get in the way of work, or what about "animal fights?" In any case, I'm sure everyday at these companies is an interesting one.

This article discusses how a large family gave up their stomach's to prevent stomach cancer. These were all grandchildren who watched many family members die of this rare disease at early ages. The loss was too much for them and they all decided to remove their stomachs so they could steer clear of this rare and deadly disease. This is great that technology today can do this sort of thing. Now all of these people can sleep better knowing that this will not affect their lives any longer. Although it has affected their diets, they are all pleased with their decisions. I am not sure what I would do in this situation. Is this type of surgery really worth it?

Is Teacher-Student Sex OK if the Student is 18? I'm sure a lot of you are shaking your heads right now at this question, however some do say that it is o.k. Technically these teenagers are of age, and in the eyes of the law, adults. This article talks about a 25 year old women teacher named Amy McElhenney who was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her male students. Some people are saying that this should not be a felony charge due to the fact that he was 18. However, how could it not. There should not have to be a rule saying that teachers should not have sex with their students. Anyone who thinks that this is o.k is in the wrong field, and should be no where near a career in education.

The article The Naked Truth About Sex Ed brings up the issue on how to talk to teens about sex. Should we continue the old "Just Say No" motto, or can we start being more realistic. This is one issue that really bothers me. Teenager's views on sex have changed drastically over the years. Both STD's and teenage pregnancy are becoming more common in today's society. So instead of just promoting abstinence, why not discuss other options and promote safe sex. This article discusses a book that is more open to teenage sex. This book is a guide to safe sex and choices for teens and adults in their early twenties. It discusses STD's, pregnancy, and other issues. It also discusses how important communication is between partners. So, what is the right way to educate students and teenagers? Through books like this or the usual Sex Ed program?

This article discusses a song that was written about killing Iraqis by a Marine. This man explains how it was a joke, and was based on a catchy line from a movie. Cpl. Joshua Belile,23, apologized and said it had nothing to do with any allegations that Marines killed around 2 dozen civilians in Haditha last year. Yes, this should not have been written or song by any means. Many Americans today still are stereotyping all Iraqis with the terrorists, however that attitude has to stop. I'm sure age had a lot to do with this song and he is regretting it now. Hopefully, nothing like this will happen again.

This article was about a little boy that called 9-11 because his mother needed help and had collapsed. However, the operators thought these were prank calls so did not take them seriously. As a result, the mother died. The two women operators were suspended, however are now back at work. I think that this is ridiculous. These women should not be allowed back at work. Their mistake caused someone to lose their life. If you are in this field, it is your responsibility to take all calls seriously.

Check out this article. It shows how fourth graders are blogging in classrooms. From EDU 375, I have realized how much you can incorporate technology in your classroom. I really like to see examples of schools using blogging within their classrooms. This is great. Here I am a college senior just learning about it while fourth graders are already implementing it. I will definitely use blogging in my classroom.

This article discusses how they have a vaccine that can prevent the virus HPV, and are thinking about giving this vaccine to young girls. I think that this is great that they can provide a vaccine for HPV. This is a virus that affects many people, especially women, causing cervical cancer. I feel that it is a good idea to give young girls this vaccination early. Yes, abstinence would work better, however teens are starting to become sexually active earlier and earlier as time goes on. It is scary looking at the statistics. I feel that kids at that age do not fully realize the risks they are taking. Even a lot of college students have no clue. Chances are this may be the first time they have heard of HPV. This virus can potentially change someone's life forever. Why not try to prevent this before it happens.

After reading Sex offender held in student's slaying I was very disturbed. I feel that there is a big problem when society lets people out of prison just to commit more crimes. Don't get me wrong, I believe in rehabilitation and second chances, however statistics show that sex offenders are more likely to strike again, and the probabilities for rehabilitation are small. Inman, the offender, was already registered in two states. Why was he allowed to attack again? This poor family has to deal with the loss of their 20 year old daughter and sister because of this guy and the justice system.

Imagine not having to worry at all about parking, and always knowing you will be guaranteed a parking spot. According to the article Searching for Parking? Try Online by Dan Orzech, this may soon become a reality. I think that this would be wonderful for our city. Many people wouldn't need to keep circling over and over to find parking spots. Also, this would hopefully eliminate all of those annoying parking tickets we can not seem to get away from. However, by doing this we are not thinking about certain groups of people. What about the senior citizens who struggle keeping up with these technological advances, or what about people that have limited internet access or have trouble or do not know how to use the internet. These people have to be able to find parking as well. Also, how long would you be able to reserve each spot? What happens if one person goes over their time limit. This would not allow the next person to be able to park. I think that this sounds like a great idea, however I think it may be a little unrealistic.
